Egypt condemns Colombia’s recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Syrian Golan

Cairo, Aug 11 (KUNA) – Egypt today condemned Colombia’s decision to recognize Israeli occupation sovereignty over the Syrian Golan, deeming it a violation of international law rules and relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, and an infringement on Syria’s legitimate and established rights to its entire territory. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, stressed the necessity of the Israeli occupation’s withdrawal from the Syrian Golan, asserting that measures and decisions aimed at entrenching the occupation or legitimizing the annexation of the Golan Heights carry no legal effect and do not alter its legal status. Egypt reaffirmed its steadfast support for Syrian sovereignty, territorial integrity, and its right to the occupied Golan, emphasizing the need to respect the principles of international law and the UN Charter, and to refrain from taking any steps that would entrench the occupation or undermine the foundations of security, stability, and peace in the region.
