Egypt and Bahrain affirm the importance of continuing efforts to de-escalate and contain tensions

Cairo, Aug 11 (KUNA) -- Egypt and Bahrain stressed today, Tuesday, the importance of continuing efforts to de-escalate tensions, contain regional tensions, and prioritize political and diplomatic solutions that contribute to enhancing security and stability in the region. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that this came during a phone call between Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his Bahraini counterpart, Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani, as part of the continuous consultation and coordination between the two countries. The statement emphasized the necessity of ensuring freedom and safety of navigation in international waterways, and safeguarding the security of maritime navigation and international trade in accordance with the rules of international law. It also praised the deep fraternal and historical ties between Egypt and Bahrain, which are witnessing growing momentum at various levels. The call referred to the recent visit by Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to Egypt and the discussions he held with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, reflecting both countries’ leadership’s commitment to further elevating bilateral relations and strengthening frameworks of joint cooperation to serve the interests of both peoples.
