(U.S. State Department): Revocation of visas for over 175,000 foreigners during President Trump's tenure

Washington, Aug 10 (KUNA) – The U.S. Department of State announced on Monday the revocation of entry visas for more than 175,000 foreigners who had been granted visas during the administration of President Donald Trump. In a statement, the ministry said these measures are part of a comprehensive immigration campaign that has resulted in tens of thousands of individuals being stripped of travel and immigration privileges to the United States. The statement added that “the targeted visas included those of foreign nationals who violated the terms of their stay, committed crimes, incited violence against U.S. citizens, defrauded Americans, exploited the immigration system, or posed a threat to U.S. national security.” It clarified that most of the visa revocations followed “encounters between the targeted individuals and law enforcement authorities,” noting that prominent reasons included “assault, drunk driving, theft, and drug-related offenses.” It affirmed that the revocations resulted from ongoing vetting procedures conducted by the State Department to ensure visa holders comply with the terms of their visas and do not pose any threat to public safety. The Trump administration has adopted an immigration policy that includes accelerating deportations and halting the release of undocumented immigrants after they cross the border.
