Turkish President: Significant Potential for Cooperation with Austria in Energy and Defense

Istanbul, August 10 (KUNA) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday that Turkey and Austria have significant potential to enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of green energy, critical minerals, advanced technology, transport, and defense industries. This came during a press conference held by President Erdogan with Austrian Chancellor Christian Stöger following bilateral talks between the two leaders at the Presidential Complex in the capital, Ankara.

The Turkish president clarified that the steps to be taken by the European Union, foremost among them updating the EU-Turkey Customs Union agreement and the visa liberalization dialogue, “are in everyone’s interest.” He expressed his belief that Turkey and Austria are capable of implementing joint strategic cooperation that would strengthen the Middle Corridor trade connectivity project.

For his part, the Austrian chancellor praised Turkey’s regional standing, stating that Ankara has a balanced voice and influence in monitoring and addressing Middle East issues. Stöger also commended the efforts made by Turkey and President Erdogan toward ending the Russia-Ukraine war, which has been ongoing for nearly four years. (End)
