UK Health Security Agency issues health warning over rising temperatures in several areas of the country

London, August 10 (KUNA) -- The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) issued an orange-level heat health warning on Monday for most of England, excluding the North East, from tomorrow through next Friday, as the country braces for its fifth heatwave of the summer. In a statement, the agency said temperatures were expected to rise above 30 degrees Celsius, significantly impacting health and social care services, and warned that individuals aged 65 and over are at serious risk from the heat. Earlier this month, orange and yellow heat health alerts had been issued for several areas in England and the capital, London. Additionally, the British Association for the Advancement of Medical Education reported in late July that heat-related deaths reached 2,877 during the heatwaves that affected the country in May and June.
