Arab League Secretary-General: Israel's refusal to complete the Gaza agreement constitutes a disregard for international will
Cairo, Aug 10 (KUNA) – Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy condemned on Monday Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s rejection of the roadmap for completing the implementation of the comprehensive peace plan in the Gaza Strip, describing it as a blatant disregard for international will and the reference points of the peace process.
In a statement, Fahmy said that the Israeli prime minister’s insistence on preventing the establishment of a Palestinian state in Gaza or the West Bank undermines the chances of reaching a peaceful settlement and establishing just and comprehensive peace.
Fahmy considered that the ongoing violations by the Israeli occupation of the ceasefire, including attacks targeting civilians and medical facilities in Gaza, constitute a flagrant breach of existing commitments and relevant United Nations resolutions.
He welcomed the clear stance expressed by the foreign ministers of the eight Arab and Islamic countries in their statement issued on August 6 regarding these violations.
He reiterated the importance of the full and serious implementation of the comprehensive peace plan and completing the track established by the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit in October 2025, emphasizing the need to advance through all stages of the agreement toward a just and comprehensive settlement that guarantees the Palestinian people their legitimate rights, foremost among them the establishment of their independent state.
He warned that the Israeli occupation’s continued attempts to impose new facts on the ground in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, along with its expansion of control over Palestinian territories, aims to entrench the occupation and undermine the possibility of establishing a Palestinian state, in blatant contradiction with international law and relevant resolutions of international legitimacy.
Fahmy called on U.S. President Donald Trump and the international community to shoulder their responsibilities in ensuring the full implementation of the comprehensive peace plan and to pressure the Israeli government to cease its violations and fulfill its commitments, thereby preserving the chances of reaching a just and lasting settlement.
