United Kingdom becomes first European country to approve use of Orforglipron tablets for type 2 diabetes treatment

London, August 10 (KUNA) -- The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) granted a license today, Monday, to Orforglipron tablets, commercially known as Fondue, used for weight control and the treatment of type 2 diabetes, making the United Kingdom the first European country to approve this product. In a statement, the MHRA revealed that “in addition to following a low-calorie diet and increasing physical activity, Orforglipron is permitted for weight loss and maintenance in adults in the UK with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or more, or with a BMI between 27 and 30 who have at least one weight-related condition.” It added that “the product is also permitted to improve blood sugar control in patients with inadequately controlled type 2 diabetes.” Orforglipron reduces feelings of hunger and food cravings, and lowers blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes when they are elevated.
