Kuwait Municipality: Removal of encroachments on state lands in the Shuwaikh residential area as part of the "Kuwait is More Beautiful Without Encroachments" campaign

Kuwait City, August 10 (KUNA) – The Kuwait Municipality confirmed on Monday the continuation of its field campaign, “Kuwait is More Beautiful Without Encroachments,” to monitor and remove violations constructed on state lands, aiming to curb unsightly conditions and the accumulation of waste in residential areas.

Sulaiman Al-Ghaith, head of the Violations Removal Department at the Municipality’s Capital Governorate branch, told reporters during a municipal tour in the Shuwaikh Residential Area that constructing diwaniyas (community gathering spaces) across streets constitutes a clear violation of regulations and laws.

Al-Ghaith explained that the Municipality’s field team had documented the violation, issued a warning to the owner of the diwaniya, and granted a period exceeding 14 days for its voluntary removal, in accordance with the application of the law.

He noted that despite the high temperatures and humidity, municipal teams are fully carrying out their supervisory duties to reduce and eliminate violations on state lands.

He pointed out that the campaign continues to remove and prevent the construction of green fences around house setbacks and the erection of diwaniyas on street sidewalks, which endanger pedestrians and increase the likelihood of traffic accidents.

Al-Ghaith clarified that the Kuwait Municipality operates in accordance with regulations that outline its procedures and the fines property owners must comply with, including the cleanliness regulations, road occupation regulations, and safety regulations.

He urged owners of encroachments on state-owned properties in both private and model residential areas to promptly respond and remove all forms of encroachments before the Municipality takes legal measures, which may include financial fines. (End) T.M.S. / N.W.F
