Beirut, August 9 (KUNA) -- Lebanon announced on Sunday that the cumulative total of victims from the ongoing Israeli occupation’s aggression against Lebanon since March 2 has risen to 4,335 killed. The Emergency Operations Center of the Lebanese Ministry of Health said in a statement that the cumulative total of victims of the Israeli occupation’s aggression, resulting from continuous airstrikes and attacks on various Lebanese areas since March, reached 4,335 killed and 12,277 wounded.
In a related development, the Lebanese Army command announced in a statement that its specialized units worked to dismantle unexploded missiles and aerial bombs left over from the Israeli occupation forces’ aggression in the towns of Dibbine, Zouitar al-Gharbiya (Western Zouitar), Houmineh al-Fouqa (Upper Houmineh), and other areas in southern Lebanon, and transported them to a secure location. It reiterated warnings to citizens to exercise caution and report any suspicious objects.
Regarding field developments, the Lebanese National News Agency reported that occupation forces continued their attacks with artillery shelling targeting the town of Bani Hayan and the area between the towns of Mefdoun and Zouitar al-Sharqiya (Eastern Zouitar), as well as shelling centered on the Ali al-Taher heights and the outskirts of Zouitar, Mefdoun, and Douha Kafarman in southern Lebanon. The agency noted that an Israeli occupation tank entered the town of Haddatha and burned several houses there, causing significant material damage.
These violations and field developments come amid the Framework Agreement, reached under U.S. sponsorship to end military confrontations. The Special Military Coordination Group for Lebanon is responsible for direct coordination between the parties to ensure the gradual withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces and the extension of Lebanese state sovereignty through the deployment of the Lebanese Army in the southern areas.
