Egypt and Turkey Foreign Ministers Emphasize the Necessity of Implementing the Two Phases of Trump’s Peace Plan for Gaza
Cairo, August 9 (KUNA) – Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan affirmed on Sunday the necessity of implementing U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace plan in its first and second phases, including the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation from the Gaza Strip.
The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release that Abdelatty received a phone call from Fidan, as part of the continuous communication and coordination between the two countries regarding ways to enhance bilateral relations and exchange views on regional issues of mutual interest.
According to the statement, the two ministers condemned the repeated Israeli violations in the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip, and stressed the need for an immediate halt to the escalation in the occupied territories.
The call addressed the latest developments in the regional situation and efforts to de-escalate tensions and contain unrest. The two ministers emphasized the importance of intensifying efforts aimed at achieving calm and reaching comprehensive and sustainable understandings that enhance regional security and stability.
The ministers exchanged views on regional security arrangements that would enhance security and stability in the region.
Abdelatty and Fidan praised the rapid development witnessed by Egyptian-Turkish relations in recent times, reaffirming their commitment to following up on the implementation of the outcomes of the first meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, held in February 2026 in Cairo, presided over by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
