Egyptian Foreign Minister Emphasizes the Importance of Empowering the Gaza Management Committee and Deploying a Stability Force in the Strip

Cairo, Aug 9 (KUNA) – Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty emphasized on Sunday the importance of enabling the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza to carry out its interim duties from within the Strip, as well as moving forward with arrangements for the deployment of an international stabilization force to monitor the ceasefire in the area.

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release that this came during a phone call between Abdelatty and the UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Nikolay Mladenov, to discuss arrangements related to the next phase and to complete the implementation of the Gaza peace plan’s obligations, according to the release.

Abdelatty stressed the importance of implementing all agreed-upon commitments, including ensuring full, safe, and sustainable access for humanitarian aid, and completing the Israeli withdrawal from the Strip, which would pave the way for transitioning to the second phase and support early recovery and reconstruction efforts.

He underscored that the deployment of an international stabilization force would bolster security and stability during the transitional period and preserve the integrity of Palestinian territories, ultimately enabling the Palestinian Authority to fully assume its responsibilities in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

He also emphasized the necessity for all parties to honor their commitments and refrain from taking any actions that could obstruct the implementation process or undermine the progress achieved. He highlighted the importance of continuing efforts to consolidate stability in the Strip and create the necessary conditions for transitioning to the next phase of the peace plan. (End) MM / TA B
