(Egyptian Red Crescent): Dispatch of 4,226 tons of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip

Cairo, Aug 9 (KUNA) -- The Egyptian Red Crescent announced on Sunday the dispatch of more than 4,226 tons of comprehensive humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip as part of the “Zaad al-Azza… From Egypt to Gaza” initiative, in line with its role as the national mechanism for coordinating aid to the Strip.

In a statement, the Egyptian Red Crescent clarified that the convoy, comprising 252 trucks, departed carrying more than 1,534 tons of food baskets and flour, 321 tons of relief supplies and medical equipment, and approximately 2,341 tons of petroleum products necessary to power hospitals and vital facilities in the Gaza Strip.

The Egyptian Red Crescent has continued its efforts and readiness at all logistical centers along the border since the onset of the crisis in Gaza to facilitate the entry of humanitarian and relief aid, which has exceeded one million tons through the efforts of more than 75,000 volunteers.
