Yemen condemns Iran's targeting of an Emirati oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz
Aden, Aug 8 (KUNA) -- The Yemeni government strongly condemned on Saturday evening Iran’s targeting of an oil tanker belonging to the United Arab Emirates as it transited the Strait of Hormuz, describing the act as a serious threat to the security and safety of maritime navigation and commercial vessels. The Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release that this attack constitutes a violation of international law and relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, notably Resolution 2817, which guarantees freedom of navigation and safe passage through international waterways. The ministry held Iran responsible for the continuation of such attacks and their repercussions, warning that their recurrence would escalate tensions and undermine regional security and stability, as well as international trade. It called for an immediate halt to these acts and for full compliance with international law in this regard. (End) S.N.S. / R.J.
