Egypt condemns the targeting of an ADNOC oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz

Cairo, Aug 8 (KUNA) -- Egypt strongly condemned the targeting of an oil tanker belonging to the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) with a missile as it transited the Strait of Hormuz, describing the attack as a serious threat to the security and safety of maritime navigation and the freedom of trade movement in one of the most critical international waterways. In a press statement on Saturday, Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed its full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and its firm rejection of all acts targeting civilian vessels and facilities that threaten the security and safety of navigation in the region. It stressed the necessity of respecting freedom of navigation in international waterways and avoiding any actions that endanger it, reiterating its call for de-escalation and the prioritization of political and diplomatic solutions to contribute to regional security and stability.
