Egypt and Iraq Emphasize the Importance of De-escalation, Prioritizing Dialogue, and Supporting De-escalation Efforts

Cairo, Aug 8 (KUNA) -- Egypt and Iraq stressed on Saturday the importance of joint efforts to de-escalate tensions, prioritize dialogue, and support initiatives aimed at calming the situation and resolving crises through political and diplomatic means, thereby safeguarding the security and stability of the region and sparing it further tensions. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that this came during a phone call between Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and build on the momentum characterizing Egyptian-Iraqi ties, contributing to expanding cooperation prospects across various fields and continuing coordination and consultation on regional issues of common interest. The statement said the call also covered exchanging views on recent developments in the region and the future of regional security arrangements. The two ministers emphasized the importance of continuing to enhance and support the trilateral cooperation mechanism among Egypt, Iraq, and Jordan, considering it a promising framework for regional integration and leveraging the human and economic assets of the three countries.
