Kingdom of Bahrain condemns the treacherous Iranian attack on an Emirati oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz

Manama, August 8 (KUNA) – The Kingdom of Bahrain today expressed its strongest condemnation and rejection of the treacherous Iranian missile attack on an ADNOC-owned oil tanker as it transited the Strait of Hormuz, a blatant violation of international law, the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, and a serious threat to maritime navigation security and energy supplies.

In a statement, Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed the Kingdom’s full solidarity with the sister State of the United Arab Emirates and its complete support for the measures it is taking to safeguard its sovereignty, security, stability, and vital interests, drawing on the deep-rooted historical fraternal ties between the leaderships and peoples of the two sister countries.

It stressed that the security and stability of the UAE are an inseparable part of Bahrain’s national security, and emphasized the necessity for the UN Security Council to assume its responsibilities, adopt deterrent measures to protect the security and safety of maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and vital waterways, and compel Iran to reopen the strait and refrain from targeting commercial vessels, thereby preserving the interests of the region’s countries and the world at large, and upholding regional security and stability.
