Cairo, Aug 8 (KUNA) -- Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed Al-Yamahi condemned on Saturday the targeting of an Emirati tanker by a missile in the Strait of Hormuz, affirming that attacks on commercial vessels constitute an escalation that threatens regional security, global trade, and energy supplies.
In a statement, Al-Yamahi expressed the Arab Parliament’s full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and its support for all measures taken to safeguard its security, stability, assets, and facilities. He emphasized that the UAE’s security, territorial integrity, and interests are an inseparable part of Arab national security.
He stressed that the Strait of Hormuz is a vital corridor for international trade and energy supplies, calling on the international community to assume its responsibilities in ensuring maritime navigation security and countering any practices that could undermine the security of international waterways or expand the scope of conflict in the region.
Earlier, Emirati company ADNOC announced that one of its tankers was targeted by a missile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz in the early hours of Saturday morning, confirming that no injuries were reported.
