First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Inspects Several Islands and Maritime Centers
Kuwait City, Aug 8 (KUNA) -- The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Youssef Al-Saud Al-Sabah, conducted a field tour of several islands and maritime centers to review ongoing operations, assess readiness levels, and monitor measures taken to enhance the security and safety of maritime borders.
The Ministry of Interior said in a press statement on Saturday that the First Deputy was welcomed at the start of his tour by the Director General of the General Directorate of Coast Guard, Brigadier General (Naval) Sheikh Mubarak Ali Al-Yousef Al-Sabah.
It noted that Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef visited the Umm Al-Maradim Island checkpoint and inspected facilities of the General Directorate of Coast Guard, the General Directorate of Checkpoints, and the General Directorate of Customs. He reviewed work procedures and coordination among entities operating at the checkpoint, emphasizing the importance of integrating efforts and enhancing coordination to ensure efficiency at maritime checkpoints.
The statement added that Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef also visited Qaruh Island, where he reviewed ongoing construction projects, directing that they be completed swiftly in accordance with approved schedules, facilities be upgraded, and working and living environments for staff be improved to provide them with the necessary resources to perform their duties efficiently.
The tour also included Failaka Island, where he inspected the security situation and the procedures implemented to secure the island, and listened to briefings on the nature of field missions and their implementation methods. He commended the efforts of Coast Guard personnel and their role in protecting maritime borders and ensuring the safety of sea users.
The statement clarified that during the tour, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef met with several citizens and sea users, listened to their opinions and observations regarding the services provided, and stressed the importance of direct communication with them and utilizing their proposals to contribute to service development and performance improvement.
According to the statement, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef directed the continued development of maritime centers and facilities, enhancing their readiness, and providing all necessary resources for their personnel. He also emphasized strengthening coordination and integration among entities operating at checkpoints and islands to support the capacity of relevant agencies to perform their duties efficiently and safeguard the security and safety of maritime borders.
