Bahrain welcomes the signing of the Mecca Agreement for Joint Defense

Manama, August 7 (KUNA) -- The Kingdom of Bahrain expressed its welcome today, Friday, for the signing of the Mecca Agreement for Joint Defense during the Mecca Summit on Joint Defense hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Ministry praised the three countries (Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan) for their solid defensive capabilities and long-standing military expertise, as well as their notable roles in serving the security and stability of the region. It also commended their reputation for honoring commitments and adhering to treaties. The statement added that the agreement constitutes a strategic partnership among equal parties, each contributing its capacities, driven by a sincere commitment to safeguarding security and stability in the region and the world, thereby building a reservoir of confidence that enhances its deterrent effect. It appreciated that the agreement reflects a shared will to strengthen deterrence, considering it a qualitative addition that complements the joint defense system of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, enhances its effectiveness, and contributes to consolidating regional security and stability on the basis of solidarity, integration, and partnership among sister states. The Ministry affirmed that the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is an integral part of the security of the Kingdom of Bahrain, which supports all efforts contributing to enhancing the security and stability of the region, safeguarding the sovereignty of its states, protecting their territorial integrity, defending their interests, and consolidating political solutions as a means to address their issues. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan signed the Mecca Agreement for Joint Defense in Mecca earlier today, reflecting the three countries’ keenness to enhance their common security and achieve security, peace, and stability in the region and the world, striving for a secure and prosperous future. The agreement aims to strengthen joint deterrence against any aggression and stipulates that any armed attack on any of the three countries is considered an attack on all.
