BRICS nations adopt declaration to enhance scientific research, artificial intelligence, and academic mobility

New Delhi, Aug 7 (KUNA) -- The education ministers of the BRICS countries adopted a declaration today, Friday, during their 13th meeting to support scientific research, artificial intelligence, and academic mobility. The Indian Ministry of Education stated in a press release that the declaration reaffirmed education as a cornerstone of cooperation among BRICS nations and outlined a common roadmap covering five priority areas identified under India’s presidency of the group. The declaration focused on strengthening early childhood care and education, enhancing basic literacy and numeracy skills, deepening cooperation in skills development, technical and vocational education and training, supporting research and innovation systems and startups, promoting mutual recognition of qualifications, and building capacity for academic leadership and institutional development. Indian Education Minister Prahlad Joshi, who chaired the meeting held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha state, in eastern India, reaffirmed India’s commitment to a human-centric approach that places people at the heart of BRICS cooperation and prioritizes humanity. The minister expressed confidence that the momentum generated by the meeting would translate into concrete practical steps, reiterating India’s commitment to close collaboration with all BRICS partners. The meeting was attended by education ministers, senior officials, and delegations from member countries, including Brazil, Russia, China, South Africa, Indonesia, Iran, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates.
