Arab League Secretary-General Condemns Houthi Attacks on Saudi Arabia and Yemeni Government Forces Positions

Cairo, Aug 7 (KUNA) -- Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy on Friday condemned Houthi militia attacks on the Najran region in southern Saudi Arabia, as well as strikes on sites belonging to Yemeni government forces in the Marib and Hadhramaut governorates in recent hours.

In a statement, Fahmy said that targeting Saudi territory, endangering civilian lives, and the continuation of military escalation inside Yemen constitute a highly dangerous trajectory that threatens the security and stability of the region and undermines prospects for de-escalation and a political settlement.

He reaffirmed the League’s full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the face of any aggression targeting its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, while simultaneously stressing the necessity of halting Houthi attacks and the ongoing military escalation within Yemen.

The Secretary-General emphasized that the current phase requires an end to escalation, refraining from any actions that could widen the scope of confrontation, and returning to the political track to safeguard the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as Yemen’s stability, unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
