Bahrain Condemns Houthi Terrorist Attack on Civilians and Civilian Targets in Saudi Arabia

Manama, August 7 (KUNA) — Bahrain expressed its strong condemnation and outrage today, Friday, over the heinous terrorist attack carried out by the Iran-backed Houthi militia using indiscriminate projectiles, which targeted civilian facilities and assets in the Najran region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, resulting in injuries to several innocent civilians.

In a statement, Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs characterized the incident as a serious escalation and a blatant violation of the rules of international law, international humanitarian law, and the UN Charter. The ministry reaffirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its complete support for the measures taken to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and stability, as well as to protect citizens and civilian and vital infrastructure. It also expressed wishes for the swift recovery of all the injured.

Bahrain called for a firm international stance to hold the Iran-backed Houthi militia accountable, cut off its funding and arms supplies, and thereby contribute to protecting civilians and preserving the security and stability of the region.

The ministry renewed Bahrain’s appreciation for the diplomatic, humanitarian, and developmental efforts led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, aimed at achieving a comprehensive and political solution to the Yemeni crisis in accordance with the Gulf Cooperation Council Initiative, its implementation mechanism, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference, and relevant UN Security Council resolutions, foremost among them Resolution 2216. These efforts seek to preserve Yemen’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and to meet its people’s aspirations for security, stability, and sustainable prosperity. (End) KH/NW / TA
