Syria: No deaths from Duma explosion; final toll 14 injured

Amman, Aug 7 (KUNA) -- The Damascus countryside health directorate announced that the final toll of the bombing targeting a passenger bus in the city of Jaramana yesterday, Thursday, was 14 injuries. This came after the Ministry of Health had reported two fatalities and several wounded.

Syrian News Agency (SANA) quoted Damascus countryside health director Dr. Tawfiq Hissa as saying that the final number of casualties from the Jaramana explosion in the Damascus countryside was 14 injuries, seven of which were treated at Damascus Hospital. He clarified that three of these cases were critical and required surgical interventions, while confirming that no deaths had been recorded.

Dr. Hissa explained that after the injured arrived at Damascus Hospital and their conditions were monitored, it became clear that the body parts transported by the Civil Defense belonged to injuries sustained at another hospital and did not represent fatalities. He added that the body parts included three limbs, one of which was complete. Initially, they were estimated to belong to the deceased, but medical follow-up and verification revealed they resulted from injuries. He noted that their owners are currently undergoing surgical operations at Damascus Hospital.

An earlier assessment by the Syrian Ministry of Health had reported two people killed and 13 others wounded yesterday after an explosive device planted in a passenger bus detonated in Jaramana, in the Damascus countryside. (End) T.M.A
