Islamabad, Aug 7 (KUNA) -- The Pakistani military announced on Friday the death of at least ten militants in two separate clashes with security forces in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in the north of the country. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) of the Pakistani military said in a statement that a group of militants attempted to attack security checkpoints in the Azam Wersak area of the South Waziristan tribal district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It confirmed that Pakistani forces thwarted the attack and engaged the militants, noting that the exchange of fire resulted in the death of eight militants. It added that in another clash in the Dir district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistani forces killed two militants and seized weapons and ammunition found in their possession, pointing out that the militants had been actively involved in various “terrorist activities” in the area.
