U.S. Embassy in Yemen: Houthi attack on Yemeni army is further evidence of their terrorism

Aden, Aug 6 (KUNA) -- The U.S. Embassy in Yemen confirmed on Thursday that the attacks launched by Houthi militias against Yemeni army forces in the provinces of Ma’rib and Hadhramaut constitute “further evidence of their terrorism against the Yemeni people.” In a statement, the embassy expressed its deepest condolences to the families of the “brave” Yemeni soldiers killed in the attacks in Hadhramaut and Ma’rib.

Earlier, the Yemeni Ministry of Defense announced in a statement that Houthi militias had launched ballistic missile and drone attacks targeting several camps and units of the armed forces in Ma’rib and Hadhramaut, resulting in casualties. It affirmed that its forces would respond to this aggression at the appropriate time and place.

The Yemeni Ministry of Defense did not release an official toll of the attack’s victims, while local and regional media reported that 45 members of the Government Forces were killed and dozens injured in simultaneous ballistic missile and drone attacks targeting several military sites in Ma’rib and Al-Jawf provinces. The Houthi militias claimed responsibility for the attacks. (End) S.N.S./S.A.M.
