Yemen: Casualties in Houthi attack on military sites in Marib and Hadhramaut

Aden, Aug 6 (KUNA) -- Yemen’s Ministry of Defense announced on Thursday that the Houthi militia launched an attack using ballistic missiles and drones targeting several camps and units of the armed forces in the Marib and Hadhramaut governorates, resulting in casualties. In a statement, the ministry said the attack targeted the armed forces while they were carrying out their duties to secure liberated areas and international roads, and to counter the Houthi militia’s plans and its associated smuggling networks. It added that the victims hailed from various Yemeni governorates. The ministry affirmed that the armed forces would respond to this aggression at the appropriate time and place, and that the attack would not diminish the resolve of its members or impair their ability to fulfill their national duties, but would instead strengthen their steadfastness and determination to defend the republic, restore the state, and end the coup. It stressed that the sacrifices of the army would not be in vain and would continue to serve as a driving force in the battle to defend the republic and restore the state. Local and regional media had previously reported that approximately 45 soldiers from the government emergency forces were killed and dozens others wounded in simultaneous ballistic missile and drone attacks on several military sites in the Marib and Al-Jawf governorates, after which the Houthi militia claimed responsibility for the attack.
