US sanctions on entities and individuals for supporting the purchase of military equipment for Cuba

Washington, June 6 (KUNA) – The United States announced on Thursday the imposition of sanctions on five Cuban entities and eight individuals, alleging their involvement in the purchase of military equipment for the Revolutionary Armed Forces Ministry and the security forces of the Cuban regime. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated in a press release that the administration of President Donald Trump “is taking further steps to protect our national security by sanctioning entities and individuals who facilitate military relations with Havana and arms shipments destined for the Cuban regime.” He clarified that the sanctions were implemented in accordance with the executive order issued on May 1, aimed at “imposing sanctions on those responsible for repression in Cuba and for threats to U.S. national security and foreign policy.” Rubio reaffirmed the continued “use of all available tools to counter the national security threats posed by the Cuban communist regime and to advance economic and political reforms that will provide the Cuban people with a better future.” (End) R.S.R. / H.S.S.
