British government imposes sanctions on 19 companies and institutions linked to Russia's war against Ukraine

London, Aug 6 (KUNA) -- The British government announced on Thursday the imposition of sanctions on 19 Russian institutions and companies that support the war efforts waged by the Russian military against Ukraine. The British Foreign Office stated in a press release that among the entities targeted were six Russian banks "that help sustain the Russian economy in order to continue the war against Ukraine." It added that the sanctions also cover four Russian companies "that contribute to importing essential materials and parts to support the Russian war machine in Ukraine." The statement noted that the United Kingdom has imposed sanctions on more than 500 individuals, entities, and companies with ties to the Russian war against Ukraine in the current year alone.
