Palestinian Presidency Condemns Ongoing Occupation Aggression on Qalandia

Ramallah, August 6 (KUNA) -- The Palestinian Presidency condemned on Thursday the ongoing Israeli occupation aggression against the Qalandia refugee camp and the crimes committed against the Palestinian people. In a statement published by the Palestinian News Agency (Wafa), the Presidency affirmed that the attacks on Qalandia are part of a systematic Israeli plan targeting all Palestinian refugee camps, which began in the Jenin, Tulkarm, and Nuseirat camps through continued raids, destruction, forced displacement, the imposition of military sieges, and the prevention of tens of thousands of citizens from returning to their homes.

It stated, “This dangerous escalation coincides with the ongoing genocide, starvation, and destruction campaign waged by occupation forces against our people in the Gaza Strip, underscoring the occupation government’s determination to pursue policies of aggression, killing, displacement, and destruction in an attempt to impose facts on the ground by force and undermine any chance of achieving peace and stability in the region.”

The Presidency held the Israeli occupation fully responsible for these continuous crimes and violations, which will lead the region to widespread explosion due to these policies that reject international law and legitimacy. It renewed its call on the international community, foremost among them the Security Council, to assume their responsibilities and take immediate action to halt the Israeli occupation’s aggression on the Gaza Strip, which continues to endure siege, starvation, and daily killings, as well as to stop the escalating assaults in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

It is worth noting that approximately 19,000 Palestinian refugees residing in the camp fear the escalation of forced displacement policies amid military raids and ongoing searches and harassment. (End) N.Q./Sh.M.A.
