(SANTCOM): Change of course for 48 commercial vessels since the start of the blockade on Iranian ports

Washington, Aug 5 (KUNA) – The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Wednesday that it has rerouted 48 commercial vessels so far as part of the U.S. enforcement of sanctions on Iranian ports. In a statement, CENTCOM said that, in addition to rerouting 48 commercial ships, U.S. forces had, as of August 5, disabled two vessels and boarded two others. It is worth noting that U.S. forces resumed maritime sanctions enforcement against ships bound for or coming from Iranian ports and coastal areas starting on July 14, in response to attacks on commercial vessels and the obstruction of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
