U.S. Secretary of State Announces Rewards Exceeding $100 Million to Combat Drug Organizations

Washington, May 8 (KUNA) – U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced on Wednesday that rewards totaling more than $100 million have been offered to help arrest leaders of drug cartels. In a statement posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Secretary Rubio said the United States is “working to track and dismantle new drug distribution organizations (the new-generation cartels in the Jalisco region).” He clarified that, to achieve this goal, the U.S. Department of State has offered rewards exceeding $100 million in total for information leading to the arrest, conviction, or prosecution of their leaders and associates. He further noted that his ministry has taken new measures to counter these organizations, including imposing visa restrictions on 65 individuals and revoking the visas of 26 people from the families and associates of individuals linked to the cartels.
