One killed and 12 injured in Israeli occupation airstrike south of Lebanon

Beirut, August 5 (KUNA) -- Lebanon announced on Wednesday that one person was killed and 12 others were injured in an Israeli air strike on a town in the south of the country. The Emergency Operations Center of the Lebanese Ministry of Health said the strike, carried out by Israeli occupation forces using an unmanned aerial vehicle on the town of Tabbineh, in the Bint Jbeil district, resulted in one death and injuries to 12 others, who were subsequently transported to hospitals for necessary medical treatment.

For its part, the Lebanese National News Agency reported that Israeli occupation forces set fire to forest resources, fruit trees, and wooded areas in the town of Hulwani and the forested areas between the towns of Kafr Kila and Halta, causing the flames to spread toward citizens’ homes without allowing civil defense teams to intervene and extinguish them.

In a related development, the Lebanese Army command announced in a statement that a specialized unit worked to dismantle unexploded air-dropped missiles and bombs left over from the Israeli aggression in the towns of Majdaloun, Qabraiha, Braichit, Deir el-Ahmar, and Shoukan, and transported them to a secure location to safeguard citizens’ safety. The Lebanese Army renewed its appeal to residents to exercise the highest levels of caution and vigilance and to report any suspicious objects in areas where Israeli occupation forces had been present.

These violations and field developments coincide with the launch of the seventh round of talks on the Framework Agreement in Rome to end military confrontations. The Special Military Coordination Group for Lebanon is facilitating direct coordination between the parties to ensure the gradual withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces and the extension of Lebanese state sovereignty through the deployment of the Lebanese Army in the southern areas.
