Kuwait and Indonesia discuss expanding cultural cooperation through the preparation of a bilateral memorandum of understanding

Kuala Lumpur, May 8 (KUNA) -- Kuwait’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Khaled Al-Yassin, held talks with Indonesian Minister of Culture Fadli Zon on Wednesday to discuss expanding cultural cooperation through the preparation of a bilateral memorandum of understanding between the two countries. The meeting took place at the Ministry of Culture’s office in the capital, Jakarta, where Ambassador Al-Yassin and Minister Zon discussed efforts to strengthen cultural ties between Kuwaiti and Indonesian institutions.

On his part, Ambassador Al-Yassin praised the deep cultural and civilizational exchange between Kuwait and Indonesia, emphasizing Kuwait’s leadership and distinction in cultural, literary, and scientific fields across the Middle East region. He highlighted Kuwait’s prominent role in research, printing, and publishing sectors, as well as its active contributions to the region’s civilizational renaissance.

For his part, Minister Zon stated that the meeting explored ways to enhance cultural relations through the preparation of a bilateral memorandum of understanding and cooperation under the framework of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), as well as the development of cultural diplomacy programs between Indonesia and Kuwait.

He expressed his country’s interest in developing joint cooperation between cultural institutions in both nations, particularly in the fields of archaeology, museums, traditional crafts, and folk arts, to strengthen bonds and enhance communication between the two peoples. He clarified that the proposed cooperation aims to expand cultural exchange, raise awareness of the civilizational and artistic heritage of both countries, and strengthen coordination among institutions concerned with culture and heritage.
