President of the Arab Parliament Condemns Israeli Occupation's Escalation of Crimes in Gaza and the West Bank
Cairo, August 5 (KUNA) – Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed Al-Yamah today condemned the Israeli occupation’s escalation of its aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and Jerusalem, which has resulted in dozens of martyrs and wounded, mostly women and children. He stressed that these actions constitute a blatant violation of international law and international humanitarian law.
In a statement, Al-Yamah said that the continuation of the genocide war and the policy of starvation and comprehensive destruction pursued by the occupation represent an unprecedented violation of the Geneva Conventions and United Nations resolutions. He added that what the Palestinian people are enduring is no longer mere violations or excesses, but rather war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in full view of the world, amid unjustified international impotence and silence.
He further noted that the Israeli occupation’s escalation in the West Bank, accompanied by attacks carried out by extremist settlers under the protection of occupation forces, along with the continued expansion of settlements, land confiscation, and the forced displacement of Palestinians, confirms that the occupation government is proceeding with a plan aimed at liquidating the Palestinian cause and imposing illegal facts on the ground.
Al-Yamah called on the international community, the Security Council, and states committed to the values of justice and human rights to take urgent action and adopt binding measures to halt the war against the Palestinian people, implement resolutions of international legitimacy, and compel the occupation to fully comply with the ceasefire agreement and immediately move to the second phase of the peace plan.
He also called for efforts to ensure the complete withdrawal of occupation forces from the Gaza Strip, the opening of crossing points, and guaranteeing the immediate and adequate flow of humanitarian, relief, and medical aid, while enabling the Government of the State of Palestine to fully assume its responsibilities in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem, considering them as a single geographical and political entity.
He urged the imposition of comprehensive international sanctions on the occupation authorities and the suspension of all privileges, agreements, and facilities granted to them until they fully comply with the provisions of international law and resolutions of international legitimacy.
He emphasized the necessity of listing settlement organizations, extremist settler militias, and their supporting and funding entities on international terrorism lists, and pursuing occupation leaders before the International Criminal Court, thereby ending the culture of impunity that has encouraged the continuation of these crimes.
