Armed man arrested near Trump Golf Course ahead of US president's visit to California

New York, August 5 (KUNA) -- The office of the Mayor of Los Angeles County announced on Wednesday morning the arrest of an armed man outside the Trump National Golf Club in southern California, coinciding with the arrival of U.S. President Donald Trump, who was traveling to the state aboard Air Force One to attend an event at the club.

In a press statement carried by CNN, the office said the detainee, identified as 38-year-old Janine Taylor from Downey, was arrested after security agents observed him taking photographs and video recordings inside the facility, appearing to monitor security procedures.

The statement clarified that Taylor was detained on charges of “carrying a concealed firearm and possessing prohibited ammunition,” noting that investigators from the Joint Terrorism Task Force of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) searched the detainee’s home due to “potential security implications associated with the incident.”

It added that investigators found an illegally modified AR-style rifle, a .45-caliber pistol, a bulletproof vest, ammunition magazines, wireless communication devices, and several notebooks containing “alarming phrases,” as described by the office.

In this context, a source in law enforcement agencies told CNN that the Secret Service is investigating whether the individual poses a threat to President Trump.
