Cabinet: Provision of services related to housing projects and fulfillment of Kuwait’s international climate and environmental commitments

Kuwait City, Aug 4 (KUNA) -- The Kuwaiti Cabinet, in its meeting held today under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, reviewed the minutes of the Ministerial Committee for Public Services, which included several items. Among the most prominent was the periodic report submitted by the Public Authority for Housing Welfare regarding the implementation status of government entities responsible for providing services for housing projects during the periods from June to December 2025 and January to June 2026, focusing on the challenges facing the execution of these projects.
The Cabinet decided to instruct the Public Authority for Housing Welfare to continue its efforts and monitor the provision of services related to housing projects, remove any obstacles that may arise, and submit the results and recommendations to the Cabinet, including a summary of the implementation status, the role of each entity, and its level of compliance, in the upcoming semi-annual report.
It also decided to instruct the Authority not to issue "To Whom It May Concern" certificates to the Kuwait Municipality and the Kuwait Credit Bank, as a prerequisite for issuing building permits, until the infrastructure and services of residential areas are fully completed.
Another item included in the report was the Government Environmental Sustainability Reporting System initiative, which aims to establish a unified government framework requiring entities to prepare annual reports to measure their environmental performance and reinforce governance and transparency, in line with Kuwait’s international environmental commitments.
The Cabinet decided to instruct State Minister for Development and Sustainability Dr. Reem Al-Faleh (Supervisor of the Public Authority for Environmental Affairs), in coordination with relevant government entities, to monitor efforts related to the Government Environmental Sustainability System action plan to ensure fulfillment of Kuwait’s international climate and environmental commitments, and to provide the Cabinet with an annual report detailing the implementation status of the plan, the role of each entity, its level of compliance, and relevant recommendations.
