Egypt and Venezuela: No Military Solutions to Conflicts and Crises
Cairo, Aug 4 (KUNA) -- Egypt and Venezuela affirmed on Tuesday that “military solutions do not resolve conflicts and crises, and that dialogue and diplomatic means remain the only path to achieving security and stability.” The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release that this came during a telephone conversation between Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his Venezuelan counterpart, Felix Plasencia, in which they discussed regional and international developments.
Abdelatty outlined the intensive efforts and communications undertaken by Egypt to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East and to prioritize political and diplomatic solutions to address crises. He reaffirmed his country’s full solidarity, at the levels of leadership, government, and people, with Venezuela following the recent earthquakes that caused significant human and material losses.
He clarified that the Egyptian humanitarian aid that arrived in Venezuela on Monday reflects Egypt’s commitment to standing by the Venezuelan people during this delicate humanitarian moment, and embodies the depth of the historical ties between the two countries, which span more than 75 years. Abdelatty added that coordination would take place to assess Venezuela’s humanitarian needs in the coming period and to examine what additional support could be provided, thereby contributing to efforts to overcome the impacts of the disaster.
Both sides expressed their aspiration to continue intensifying bilateral cooperation and elevating relations between the two countries across various fields, reflecting the depth of their ties. Abdelatty emphasized his interest in developing bilateral cooperation in various areas, particularly economic and investment-related ones, and confirmed Egypt’s readiness to contribute to reconstruction efforts following the earthquakes by leveraging the accumulated expertise of Egyptian companies in implementing infrastructure and reconstruction projects.
For his part, Plasencia expressed his deep appreciation for the Egyptian humanitarian aid that arrived in Venezuela, commending Egypt’s supportive stance and its solidarity with the Venezuelan people in the face of the earthquakes’ repercussions.
