Bahraini Foreign Minister Discusses Regional Developments in Phone Calls with His Emirati and Jordanian Counterparts

Manama, August 3 (KUNA) -- Bahraini Foreign Minister Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani held two phone calls today, Monday, with UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi to discuss developments in the regional situation. The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the Bahraini foreign minister discussed with his UAE counterpart the close historical fraternal ties binding the two countries and their brotherly peoples, as well as ways to enhance coordination and joint consultation between the two countries on current international issues. The statement added that the developments in the current regional situation and regional and international efforts aimed at de-escalation and enhancing security and stability in the region were discussed. It noted that the call also addressed the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to maritime navigation, ensuring the safety and security of navigation and safeguarding the rights and interests of regional and world countries in accordance with international law and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, as well as exchanging views on all matters and issues of common interest. In a separate statement, the ministry said the Bahraini foreign minister discussed with his Jordanian counterpart the trajectory of the strong fraternal relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields of common interest, in a manner that serves the mutual interests of the two countries and brings benefits to the brotherly peoples. The statement added that the call discussed developments in the regional situation and ways to support regional and international efforts aimed at de-escalation and consolidating regional security and stability, as well as exchanging views on issues and matters of common interest and continuing political coordination and consultation in various international forums regarding various challenges.
