Conference in Tunisia to discuss leveraging modern technologies to bolster the security framework for tourism in Arab countries

Tunis, Aug 3 (KUNA) -- The General Secretariat of the Arab Ministers of Interior Council announced that the 12th Arab Conference of Tourism Security Officials will be held next Wednesday in the Tunisian capital to discuss the use of modern technologies to support the tourism security system in Arab countries.

In a statement issued on Monday, the General Secretariat said the conference would be attended by representatives of the interior ministries of Arab countries, the Arab Organization for Tourism, representatives of the project supporting the fight against trafficking in cultural heritage in the Middle East and North Africa region, as well as the Arab Academy for Security Sciences.

The statement added that the conference would discuss several important agenda items, including the establishment of an Arab guiding organizational structure for the tourism security system in member states and the fight against the theft and cross-border smuggling of antiquities, by reviewing the experiences of several member states in the field of tourism security.

It noted that the conference would be followed by the second meeting of the joint committee of experts and representatives of the interior, justice, tourism, and culture ministries in Arab countries, tasked with preparing a draft Arab guiding law for the protection of antiquities and national heritage.
