Arab States Broadcasting Union Announces Completion of Evaluation of Participating Works at the Arab Radio and Television Festival
Tunis, Aug 3 (KUNA) -- The Arab Radio and Television Union (ARTU) announced on Monday the completion of the evaluation of participating works as part of the preparations for the 26th edition of the Arab Radio and Television Festival, scheduled to take place in Tunisia from September 21 to 24. The committee has reviewed all nominated entries in preparation for the start of the judging phase.
In a statement, the Union said that the listening and viewing committee, comprising a select group of experts and specialists in audio-visual media, verified that the works met the required conditions regarding duration, technical aspects, content, and compliance with the festival’s regulations before referring them to the judging panels.
The Union clarified that the television competitions for this edition feature participation from 53 public and private production entities from Arab member states, including 19 television bodies that are members of the Union, 12 private satellite channels, and 22 production companies. It added that the main competition includes 108 entries, while the parallel competition comprises 41 works, bringing the total number of participating television works to 149. This reflects the broadening scope of participation and the diversity of competing productions.
Regarding the radio competitions, 161 entries were received from 35 Arab and international public and private radio and broadcasting bodies. The main competition included 118 entries submitted by 16 radio bodies that are members of the Union, while the parallel competition featured 43 entries contributed by 19 international and private radio stations, reflecting the growing presence of radio institutions.
In the new media competition, reserved for member bodies of the Union, the Union announced that it selected the theme “A Journey Across the Arab World,” aimed at youth, with productions supported by artificial intelligence technologies. It noted that 10 entries were submitted, a move that underscores media institutions’ interest in leveraging AI technologies to produce digital content for emerging generations.
The statement pointed out that with the completion of the listening and viewing committee’s work, the second phase began: remote electronic judging via the digital platform developed specifically by the Arab Radio and Television Union to manage the festival’s competitions.
The Union emphasized that it relies on an electronic judging system that ensures the highest levels of integrity and transparency. Each member of the judging panel works independently through the platform, without knowledge of the other judges, evaluating works and assigning scores electronically. The platform automatically calculates the results, thereby reinforcing the principles of neutrality and equal opportunity for all participants.
This mechanism is one of the most prominent strengths distinguishing the competitions of the Arab Radio and Television Festival and consolidating its status as one of the most important Arab media events dedicated to encouraging excellence and creativity in various fields of audio-visual production in the Arab world.
