Palestinian Foreign Minister reaffirms commitment to ongoing efforts to expose crimes committed by the occupation and settlers

Ramallah, August 3 (KUNA) -- Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faresin Shahin affirmed on Monday that the ministry will continue its political, legal, and diplomatic efforts to expose the crimes committed by the occupation and settlers, and to persist in demanding international protection for the Palestinian people and accountability for those responsible for crimes against them.

Shahin, speaking at a press conference held at the Foreign Ministry headquarters in Ramallah, stated that settler attacks in the West Bank are not isolated incidents but rather organized terrorism sponsored and protected by the occupation state. She emphasized that the sole reference for characterizing these crimes is international law, which affirms the illegality of the occupation and settlement and the necessity of ending both.

The Palestinian minister spoke about the escalating terrorism by settlers, noting that 3,488 attacks had been documented from the beginning of this year until the end of June last year, in addition to the displacement of Palestinian communities, the establishment of new settlement outposts, land confiscation, and attacks on places of worship and property.

She stressed that the attack on the village of Tall in Nablus, which resulted in the martyrdom of four Palestinians from a single family, along with the attacks preceding and following it, falls within a campaign aimed at forcibly displacing Palestinians. She affirmed that settler militias have become more organized and armed, operating under the protection of occupation forces or with their direct support.

The Palestinian Foreign Minister called on international media to convey the truth as it is and to highlight that settler terrorism has become the main driver of settlement expansion, warning against falling for the occupation authorities’ narrative, which seeks to distort facts and portray attacking settlers as victims.

She urged the international community to take practical measures to halt settler terrorism, hold accountable those responsible for organizing, financing, and carrying it out, disarm the settlement militias, and end the policy of impunity, in accordance with international law and the resolutions of the International Court of Justice and the Security Council.
