Minister of Health: The Kuwaiti health sector wrote an eternal national epic on the fields of giving during the brutal invasion

Kuwait City, 2 Aug (KUNA) -- Health Minister Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadi said on Sunday that the Kuwaiti health sector was one of the most prominent arenas of resilience during the brutal Iraqi invasion, as its personnel—doctors, dentists, nursing staff, technicians, and administrators—continued to fulfill their humanitarian mission with great courage and dedication.
In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on the occasion of the 36th anniversary of the brutal Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, Minister Al-Awadi clarified that hospitals and health facilities continued to provide medical care, perform urgent surgeries, and treat patients and the injured, despite the extremely difficult conditions surrounding the country at the time.
He affirmed that this anniversary will remain a testament to the resilience and unity of the Kuwaiti people, as well as to the noble sacrifices made by the nation’s sons in defense of their homeland and in steadfast adherence to its values and principles.
He added that the contributions of health sector personnel during the invasion represent a bright page in the country’s history, embodying the highest meanings of national and humanitarian responsibility. He noted that members of the health sector made their medical mission a symbol of giving and sacrifice, ensuring that this legacy remains a source of pride and honor for every Kuwaiti, and serving as proof that Kuwaitis know how to stand united in times of hardship to serve their country and protect its people.
The minister pointed out that commemorating this occasion renews the commitment to continue working with dedication to preserve public health and to complete the process of developing the health system, as a tribute to the sacrifices of fathers and forefathers who, through their solidarity and resilience, crafted an honorable national history.
He prayed to God Almighty to have mercy on the martyrs of Kuwait, to protect the State of Kuwait and its people from all harm, and to perpetuate the blessings of security, safety, and stability under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah (may God protect and guard him), and His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah (may God protect him), and His Highness the Prime Minister, Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah (may God protect him).
