Egyptian Foreign Minister and US Special Envoy for the Middle East discuss regional developments

Cairo, Aug 2 (KUNA) -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff discussed regional developments and efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Sunday that the phone call underscored the importance of continuing joint work to prevent the escalation of tensions in the region. It also stressed the necessity of prioritizing political and diplomatic solutions as the only means to achieve security and stability. Abdelatty pointed out the need to intensify international and regional efforts to contain existing crises in the region and support de-escalation tracks, thereby creating suitable conditions to resume dialogue, address the root causes of crises, safeguard the interests of the region’s peoples, and preserve their security and stability.
