Lebanese Army: Five soldiers injured in attack by occupation forces in the south

Beirut, Aug 2 (KUNA) -- The Lebanese Army command announced on Sunday that five soldiers were injured after being targeted by Israeli occupation forces in the town of Kafr Kila in the Bint Jbeil district, during an escort operation for residents in southern Lebanon. The Lebanese National News Agency reported that an Israeli occupation drone dropped a bomb at the intersection of the town of Sarbin in the Bint Jbeil district, striking a civilian vehicle that was being escorted by an army mechanism, resulting in injuries to several civilians. The agency stated that Israeli occupation forces carried out a violent explosion in the town of Taybeh in the Marjayoun district, and also executed large-scale explosions in the town of Kounin in the Bint Jbeil district, the echoes of which were heard in several southern areas. It clarified that the sound heard in Sarbin was due to an explosion from war remnants, with no casualties or security incidents, coinciding with intensive flight activity by Israeli occupation drones over Beirut and its southern suburbs. These attacks and field breaches occur within the framework of the operational understandings of the Framework Agreement, signed under US sponsorship to end military confrontations, whereby the Special Military Coordination Group for Lebanon is responsible for direct coordination between the parties to ensure the gradual withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces and the extension of Lebanese state sovereignty through the deployment of the Lebanese Army in the southern areas.
