Institute of Banking Studies Launches the Fifth Edition of the Risk Management Leaders Program

Kuwait City, Aug 2 (KUNA) – The Central Bank of Kuwait announced on Sunday the launch of the fifth cohort of the Risk Management Leaders Program, offered by the Institute of Banking Studies. The program is part of the “Kafa’a” initiative, led by the Central Bank in collaboration with Kuwaiti banks and administered by the Institute.
In a press statement, Governor of the Central Bank and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Banking Studies, Bassel Al-Haroun, said the program aligns with the Bank’s strategic effort to build highly qualified national cadres across various financial and banking sectors, aiming to enhance risk management capabilities, which play a crucial role in strengthening the banking environment and safeguarding financial operations.
Al-Haroun added that the program aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed decisions and develop effective risk management strategies in banks and financial institutions.
He explained that the program spans five months, divided into four non-consecutive phases. The first two phases are held in Kuwait and include training sessions and practical lectures on risk management, conducted in partnership with specialized global institutions to obtain recognized and specialized certifications.
The program features multiple training tracks led by professional local and international lecturers in the field. The third phase involves preparing and presenting case studies and graduation projects, followed by the fourth and final phase, during which participants receive international training over two weeks in the United Kingdom in collaboration with the Business School at the University of St Andrews. The Bank covers all travel, accommodation, and local transportation costs for participants.
Eligibility criteria for the program require applicants to be Kuwaiti nationals, hold an appropriate university degree, and possess at least five years of practical experience in a financial or economic institution in Kuwait. Applicants must also pass the required tests and personal interviews.
The “Kafa’a” initiative, launched by the Central Bank in partnership with Kuwaiti banks and managed by the Institute of Banking Studies, is a comprehensive strategic initiative aimed at building highly qualified national cadres, providing them with the necessary knowledge to advance in their careers, and equipping them with essential skills to become a professional workforce aligned with the rapid and continuous advancements in the financial and banking industry. The initiative seeks to provide institutions operating in this sector with competencies capable of filling senior management roles.
