(Environmental Authority): Investing in the awareness of youth and young people is the foundation for building a sustainable future
Kuwait City, 1 Jan (KUNA) — The Public Authority for Environmental Affairs (PAEA) stressed on Saturday that building environmental awareness among youth and young people constitutes a genuine investment in the nation’s future, enhancing their capacity to contribute to environmental protection and the achievement of sustainable development goals.
Speaking on the sidelines of the opening of the fourth season of the national initiative “Sustainability Camp,” under the slogan “When Technology Meets Sustainability,” Acting Director General of PAEA Nof Baha’ani told KUNA that the authority’s participation stems from its conviction that sustainability has become a cornerstone of development, and that real change begins with the individual, fostering a more aware, responsible, and sustainable society.
Baha’ani added that the authority believes environmental protection is achieved by entrenching environmental values and strengthening a culture of responsibility among members of society, particularly youth and young people, who are regarded as the nation’s true wealth and the architects of its future.
She emphasized that promoting environmental awareness and empowering young people are among the authority’s top priorities, based on the belief that investing in human capital is the most sustainable form of investment, and that cultivating a generation equipped with knowledge, awareness, and an entrepreneurial spirit is the true guarantee for preserving natural resources and achieving sustainable development.
She noted that the Sustainability Camp serves as a national platform for training sustainability ambassadors who carry the message of environmental conservation to their schools, universities, and communities, translating knowledge into practical initiatives and actions.
Baha’ani reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to continuing its partnership in this national initiative and its ongoing support for awareness-raising initiatives that enhance environmental consciousness, encourage innovation, and promote collaborative efforts, thereby contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals and building a more prosperous and sustainable future.
