European Union: All arrivals to Ceuta have not reached Spain and Europe

Brussels, August 1 (KUNA) -- European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen confirmed on Saturday that all individuals who entered the Spanish enclave of Ceuta illegally did not reach the Spanish mainland or other European Union countries. In a post on the X platform, von der Leyen stated, “The good news is that the vast majority of those who entered illegally have returned to Morocco thanks to the effective work of Spanish and Moroccan law enforcement agencies.” She emphasized that these developments “highlight the importance of securing our European borders,” noting that the EU “already has a robust system in place, but it requires further strengthening.” Von der Leyen stressed the need to “remain vigilant at every critical entry point and maintain close coordination among all authorities,” while calling for “a lessons-learned process to enhance Europe’s resilience.” She added that the European Commission “has offered its support to Spain from the outset,” noting that she had received numerous messages from several European leaders.
