British Foreign Secretary Welcomes Gaza Disarmament Agreement, Calls for Israeli Occupation Withdrawal

London, July 31 (KUNA) -- British Foreign Secretary David Miliband welcomed on Friday the announcement of disarmament in Gaza, emphasizing the necessity of implementing the 20-point plan that includes the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from Gaza and respect for the ceasefire. Miliband said in a statement, “I welcome the announcement of Hamas’s disarmament. The focus must now be on implementing the full plan.” He added that the humanitarian situation in Gaza remains “appalling,” calling on Israel to immediately lift unacceptable restrictions on the entry of aid so that food, medicine, and support reach those in need. He affirmed that Britain will continue to work with its partners to end the conflict, stressing that the two-state solution is the “only viable” path to peace in the region. He also thanked the United States, Qatar, Turkey, and Egypt for their efforts in advancing negotiations. For his part, US President Donald Trump announced via the Truth Social platform that a historic agreement had been reached to disarm Gaza, describing it as a pivotal step toward peace and security.
