France expresses readiness to assist Spain in the migrant influx crisis in (Ceuta)

Paris, July 31 (KUNA) -- A French presidential official expressed on Friday France’s readiness to assist Spain in managing the sudden influx of migrants into the Spanish city of Ceuta. In a press statement, the official said that French President Emmanuel Macron had ordered “enhanced border surveillance with Spain,” reaffirming France’s willingness to provide any support that Spanish authorities might need if requested. The official pointed to the possibility of support through the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex). French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez had issued directives on Thursday to “immediately intensify surveillance on the Spanish border.” Earlier on Friday, Spanish state television reported that approximately 50,000 migrants had entered Ceuta, a Spanish territory, irregularly over the past days and hours, marking the city’s largest migration crisis since 2021.
