France welcomes agreement on disarmament of Hamas and armed factions in Gaza

Paris, July 31 (KUNA) -- The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed on Friday the announced agreement on the disarmament of Hamas and other armed factions in the Gaza Strip, stating that it is a demand France has long upheld. In a statement, the ministry stressed the need to follow up on this agreement now, emphasizing that Hamas must actually hand over its weapons, thereby enabling the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation army and the deployment of an international stabilization force to support Palestinian security and police forces, in accordance with the provisions of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803. It also stressed the urgent and intensive entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza. Earlier, on Thursday, US President Donald Trump announced that the Gaza Peace Council had reached what he described as a “historic agreement” for the disarmament of the Palestinian Hamas movement and all other armed groups in Gaza. Trump stated in a post on the Truth Social platform that “this agreement represents a highly significant step toward ensuring that Gaza is finally under the control of a new Palestinian government working in close cooperation with the Peace Council to assist the Palestinian people.” (End) M.B. / M.K.
